The cosmetics industry in this region is known as the CENTRAL AMERICAN COMMON MARKET where the member countries are: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica where the definition of Cosmetic is described as: Any substance or preparation intended to be brought into contact with the various superficial parts of the human body (epidermis, hair and capillary systems, nails, lips and external genital organs) or with the teeth and oral mucosa, with the exclusive or main purpose of cleaning, perfuming, modifying their appearance and/or correcting body odors and/or protect them or keep them in good condition.
It is important to mention that cosmetic products that, due to their composition, are attributed therapeutic properties, must be registered as medicines.
