Food for Special Medical Purposes

Special Diet Foods are defined as: “Food or beverages specially prepared or prepared to meet particular dietary needs determined by particular physical or physiological conditions and/or specific diseases or disorders and that are presented as such.”

The codes of practice, guidelines, guides and other sanitary recommendations applicable to said foods are regulated based on the Codex alimentarius.
