Food - Ecuador

As of December 2015 in Ecuador, processed foods require Sanitary Notification instead of Sanitary Registration, for their distribution and commercialization in Ecuador.

The Sanitary Notification of Processed Food is a certificate that allows its importation and commercialization under the requirements of current regulations, to guarantee that it is safe for human consumption.

Any natural or legal person that carries out activities of production, storage, distribution, marketing, import of food products must obtain authorization.

The National Agency for Sanitary Regulation, Control and Surveillance, ARCSA, is the entity that regulates this category.
