Food and alcoholic beverages

In Chile, the authorities in charge of the government for regulatory affairs are the Ministry of Health (MINSAL), the Public Health Institute of Chile (ISP), and the Regional Ministerial Secretariat (SEREMI).

Unlike other countries in the region, regulatory processes for food are not based on obtaining a sanitary registry as a marketing permit.

Food supplements and food in Chile are defined as products specially made or prepared to supplement the diet for healthy purposes and contribute to maintaining or protecting characteristic physiological states such as adolescence, pregnancy, lactation, climacteric and old age.

In the case of food, the procedure for importing any type of food involves carrying out two procedures before the Metropolitan Region Health Authority (SEREMI de Salud R.M.):

First, request a Customs Destination Certificate, and subsequently, request the Authorization for the Use and Disposal of Imported Food.

Both requests can be authorized or rejected, depending on whether or not the products that make up the import item meet the requirements or demands of current health regulations.

At Aruna Asesores we have the tools so that the regulatory processes in Chile for Supplements and Food are consolidated in an agile and safe way.
